VERSUS

ELI MANNING

As two of the most talented quarterbacks in the league as well as being brothers, the question of who is better often arises: Peyton or Eli Manning?

In my opinion, I would have to choose Eli, for a few simple reasons.

To start off, Eli Manning has won two Super Bowls, and he claimed the MVP award in each of those championships.

Although Peyton has won four league MVPs, he has claimed only one Super Bowl MVP award. Let’s face the facts – the regular season doesn’t matter. It all comes down to the championships and with Eli winning two, he has my vote as the best.

Eli Manning took a team with a 9-7 record to the Super Bowl, beating world champion hopefuls the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers had the fourth-best defense in all of the NFL last year. While older brother Peyton could turn to his stats as the deciding factor, the fact of the matter is that he has been in the league 15 seasons compared to Eli’s nine.

In the future, Eli Manning will have as many first-rate stats as his older brother and who knows, he might even have another Super Bowl to add to his resumé.

Just as people compare LeBron and Kobe by their number of championships, I’ll have to do the same and say Eli Manning is better than his older brother Peyton.

PEYTON MANNING

Competition between brothers is just a part of life. The only difference between average brothers and the Manning brothers is that their competition is on a national stage.

In reality, the two brothers actually don’t play each other that often.  So far in their careers, they have only played each other twice. Peyton Manning is 2-0 against his younger brother, showing his older brother dominance.

Peyton also displays tremendous leadership skills and a great knowledge of the game of football. These two features are far more developed in Peyton Manning than in Eli Manning.

Peyton Manning also has a winning edge that he brings to the table. While he was with the Colts, the team had above average success. During last year’s season, however, the Colts performed below normal standards.

What was missing for the Colts that season? Their phenomenal player, Peyton Manning, had to sit out that season because of an injury that resulted in surgery.

The absence of Peyton was felt and the entire team fell apart without his great leadership and abilities. Even though Peyton has won only one Super Bowl in comparison to Eli’s two, Peyton has the ability to make or break a team.

The qualities that Peyton brings to the table are necessary to lead a championship caliber team to success in the NFL.
