Salutations, friends. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a junior Englsh and journalism double major at Augie.

As this year’s Variety Editor, I have big plans for the section. The Mirror is supposed to be about the students, so I’m going to be pushing for as much student patrticipation as possble.

Look around you. Whether you’re sitting in the Commons chowing down on one of Tabitha’s fabulous wraps or curled up in your room with a hot cup of joe, you’re surrounded by potential topics.

Movies. Books. Music. Games. Fashion. If it’s new, if it’s hot, if it’s trending, it’s a topic.

You don’t have to be an English or journalism major to write for the Mirror. In fact, we welcome students from other departments. New voices make a huge difference and offer a fresh perspective.

If you have an idea for a potential topic, please join us Monday evenings at 8 p.m. in the Mirror office (HUM 222) for our writers meeting.

If you have an idea but can’t make it to the meeting, send me an email and I’ll bring up your topic at the meeting. However, we’d definitely prefer seeing you in person.

I have big dreams for the Variety section, but your input is going to make all the difference in the world.

I’m enlisting all of you as journalistic ‘watchdogs.’ Keep your eyes and ears open for novelty stories. You never know when I’m going to hassle you for a topic.
