On Wednesday, Dec. 5 in the Siverson Lounge, the first candidate for Augustana’s head football coach met the media to discuss the job, opened since Mike Aldrich is no longer with the college.
David Brown II, the first possible coach, has had several coaching jobs all around the country. He spent five seasons at Cal Polytechnic State University, two of them as defensive coordinator, where under his coaching, Cal Poly led the nation in sacks and won the Great West title both years.
Brown then went to Ohio University, where he spent four seasons under Frank Solich as the defensive backs coach. Once again showing his defensive expertise, the Bobcat defense ranked in the top 20 in pass efficiency defense and turnovers gained.
Most recently, Brown was the head coach at Missouri S&T. He led the Miners to a record of 19-14 in 2011, and was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year after leading his team to their first winning season since 2008. Brown also played collegiately at Santa Monica College.
Daren Wilkinson, the second candidate, also spoke with the media on Thursday, December 6. And the final candidate, Jerry Olszewski, addresses the media today, Friday, Dec. 7.
