ASA’s Nov. 6 meeting saw the presence of administrative guest speakers in order to acquaint members with the administration and explain how they can work together with ASA.

Susan Hassler, Augustana’s senior vice president of academic affairs and dean of the college, met with senators to introduce them to her duties as an administrator. She and Bob Preloger, vice president for advancement, also answered questions about the requirement of religion classes, the long-term strategy for keeping the college academically competitive, academic retention, how new majors and minors are added, NSS, faculty evaluations, the new science center, Viking Varieties criticisms, student retention, enrollment and Humanities naming rights.

After the question-and-answer session, committees updated their fellow senators about progress being made. ASA senators are working toward an increase in lighting around campus and in redoing the ASA budget process. The bone marrow drive dates have been set for Dec. 3 and 4. Viking Days chairs and NSO co-chairs will be interviewed before Christmas.
